Summer in Annecy

The temperatures here in Annecy, France soared into the mid-30s over the last few weeks, but luckily it was a dry heat, despite the sleepless nights. I’m sorry I haven’t posted for a while, here’s a potted summary of my year…

Christmas in Wales

I decided to spend my Christmas 2016 in Cardiff, Wales. Home of Doctor Who and Torchwood. I’d heard that the Doctor Who Experience was being shut down, and I wanted to see it before it closed.

I spent a month in Cardiff, where the street signs all looked like someone had tossed a bunch of scrabble tiles onto a table and called it a word… But the people were kind and generous, and Cardiff and Cardiff Bay were beautiful to explore.

The Beatbox Championships in Paris

While I was staying in Cardiff, I popped across to Paris (because in Europe, popping across to other countries is easy) to help and support my friends Arnaud and Yann from Furiial, who were competing at the Beatbox Championships.

It was my first time in Paris and I loved it. So much so, that I’ll be relocating there in October. We had a whirlwind weekend, racing around taking photos for Furiial. I managed to visit the street where my Mother lived as a young girl, as well as check out the Notre Dame and Eiffel Tower.

Meeting Joseph Viatte in Switzerland

After returning to France in the new year, I met up with the extraordinary contact juggler Joseph Viatte in Switzerland.

I shot video with him as part of a documentary I’m putting  together, and I’ll update you on this soon.

The Cannes Film Festival

As summer rolled I realised I had an opportunity  to see what the Cannes Film Festival was all about, so I booked an Airbnb for a month in the South of France to check it out. Boy, was it hot. I had a tiny apartment with very little air conditioning.

But Cannes was  beautiful. The festival was spectacular. I spent a day in Monaco checking out the Formula 1, and another climbing the hills of Aubagne in the footsteps of Marcel Pagnol.

The Future

And now I’m back in Annecy enjoying the summer.

My friends from Furiial (and new friends I’ve made) have just finished their baccalaureate exams, and are on holiday until they move to new schools later in the  year. That’s when I’ll move on from this picturesque little town as well. To the big city of  Paris, for more adventures.
