This week I purchased a DJI Mavic Pro drone with the intention of capturing some of the beautiful scenery in and around Annecy, France. I’ll also be in Cannesin May for the Film Festival, so I want to get some footage of that area as well. I took the drone down to the lake in Annecy for an introductory flight.
So now and again I decide I am tired of standard Hollywood fare, and decide to watch a movie from another stable. I’ll follow a director (I’m a big fan of auteur theory), or a genre, and I’ma fan of coming-of-age films, but often I’ll check out a foreign film. I don’t mind subtitles. It’s a small price to pay to see something completely different on screen. I like movies that are almost tone poems, that lose you in their imagery, and last night I checked out Concrete Night (Betoniyö) from 2013.
I took some photos in Taranaki over the Christmas period – I grew up in South Taranaki, and headed down there to be with family.
These were taken on a Canon 70D. I’m new to this camera, so many of the settings were left at defaults. I will learn and improve!
