Most business owners I talk to have tried ChatGPT. Some have used it to write an email or brainstorm a tagline. Or make funny cat memes… But almost none of them have thought about using AI for the things that are actually eating their time.
I want to walk through five areas where AI could be saving you hours every week. Not in some theoretical future. Right now.
1. Your product images
In the past, if you wanted decent product photography you hired a photographer. You booked a studio. You scheduled a shoot, the editing, the delivery. For a promotional video you needed a production company - which also involves music licensing, a voiceover artist, insurance, locations. Even a simple product video could run into tens of thousands of pounds.
Not any more.
I can take a basic photo of your product and use AI to place it in a professional setting, expand the background, recolour it, create variations for different campaigns. I can generate promotional videos with AI-generated music, AI voiceover, captions, all formatted for whatever platform you need. Instagram square. TikTok vertical. YouTube widescreen. And I’d challenge you to tell the difference from a professionally shot video.
I can recolour old videos. Repurpose existing footage. Turn still images into animated product showcases. If you can describe what you want, I can probably produce it.
The quality surprises people. I have had clients look at AI-generated product images and assume a professional photographer shot them. When I told them the whole batch took an afternoon, they went quiet for a bit.
2. Your product descriptions
Your competitors are giving away all of their secrets. Their websites are public. Their source code is viewable. Their keywords, their page structure, their image tags, their meta descriptions. All of it is right there for anyone who knows how to look.
I can analyse every competitor in your space, dig into their code, see the keywords they are ranking for, work out why they rank higher than you, and then aggregate all of that intelligence and build something that exceeds all of them. Something that is a sum of more than its parts.
Most small business owners wrote their product descriptions once when they set up their shop and have not touched them since. The descriptions are functional but flat. They are missing the keywords that customers actually search for.
An AI-driven content refresh takes a day or two and the improvements to your search ranking start showing within weeks. I also get the AI to monitor things and keep improving over time. It is really a new world and I think business owners should be jumping on this right now while we are still in the early stages.
3. Your website speed and SEO
An AI-driven SEO audit goes through every page on your site, checks the keywords, analyses the content, assesses the page speed, and ranks you against your competitors. The whole thing takes minutes. A traditional audit from an agency takes weeks and can cost thousands.
The low-hanging fruit is almost always speed. Old sites built on WordPress with a dozen plugins can take three, four, five seconds to load. That is the difference between a visitor browsing your site and a visitor closing the tab. Google penalises slow sites. Every second of load time costs you money.
I can take a site that loads in four seconds and rebuild it to load in under one. The content stays the same. The brand stays the same. It just works properly.
Then AI keeps monitoring it. Watching for broken links, outdated content, shifts in how competitors are ranking. Your SEO becomes a living process that adapts as your market changes.
4. Your email
Most business owners are drowning in email. Vendor pitches. Subscription notifications. Auto-renewals. Newsletters from three years ago. Customer enquiries that anyone could answer. Spam that slipped through.
The decision-making on each email is pretty robotic when you think about it. You glance at it, decide it is irrelevant, delete it. Or forward it. Or fire off a two-line reply. Very rarely does an email actually need your sustained attention and thought. But over the course of a day you might look at a hundred or a thousand emails and it takes up a huge amount of time.
AI email triage reads each incoming message, categorises it based on who sent it, what it says, what it wants. It auto-replies to things that do not need you. Unsubscribes from junk. Forwards to the right people. You can train it with specific rules and instructions. You can have an approval step if you do not trust it initially. But at a certain point most email triage decisions are easy and what happens is you are only presented with things that need your direct attention.
You can always check a summary of what the AI dealt with that day. But the point is you start your morning doing actual work instead of sorting through an inbox.
5. That manual process you do every single day
I will use myself as an example. I had no idea where my finances were. I had the normal approach which is I was scared to look at my bank account and I just trusted that unless I got a notification things were probably fine. I built a system that analyses all of my subscriptions, tells me where I am wasting money, where I am duplicating functionality, where there are subscriptions I am not even using. It projects forward my expenses and income and savings. It makes suggestions. It does a daily check-in with me. It has made dealing with money incredibly easy when it used to feel very difficult.
On the health side I can now monitor my sleep and blood pressure and weight and nutrition through connected apps, a continuous glucose monitor, electronic scales. I do not have to do anything manually. The data gets aggregated into a dashboard so I can see what makes my sleep better, detect anomalies, get medical advice. Saves me a huge amount of time and presents everything clearly.
Every business has its version of this. Some process that someone does every day that takes an hour. AI is incredible at taking these painful, complicated, avoided processes and just automating them.
What surprises people most
When I tell clients that AI can answer their phone, they look at me like I am joking.
But I can set up a voice AI agent that sounds completely realistic. Specific accent. Background noise handling. It answers questions, takes bookings, redirects callers, and feels like a completely human conversation. Not one of those awful automated phone trees. A genuine, intelligent conversation with something that has been trained on your business.
For a small business that does not have a receptionist, this is transformative. Your phone gets answered on the first ring, twenty-four hours a day, by something that sounds like a friendly member of staff. The cost is a fraction of a salary.
What this actually costs
A project spec usually takes me a day or two to develop with the client. Implementation runs one or two days for most things. Then another day or two of refining, tweaking, deploying. A client might realistically be looking at one to five thousand pounds for a complete site rebuild, rebrand, content refresh, and automation setup. Monthly running costs for hosting and AI services land somewhere between twenty and fifty pounds.
Compare that to hiring an agency to rebuild your website. Or paying a production company for one video. For an initial outlay of a few thousand pounds and a small monthly fee, you can have a system that constantly generates content, maintains your website, and keeps you competitive.
No brainer, really.
